A strong Board of Directors, firmly rooted in community, is a major component of Spence Neighbourhood Association’s success since it was incorporated in 2000. This has lead to a team with a passion for creating a positive impact where they live and a fierce will to do well by their neighbours.
SNA’s Board of Directors is responsible for the overall guidance and vision for the association.
Board members are asked to attend a once a month board meeting as well as sit on one of the committees which also meet once a month. It is vital to fill our board with people who want to make an impact on the community they live in. A strong board means a strong agency.
Participation on the board is open to anyone who lives, works, or volunteers in the Spence neighbourhood and who is over 18 years old.
Joining the SNA board gives you the opportunity to get involved and contribute to change in your neighbourhood. It offers a chance to learn how a not-for-profit, grassroots community organization works and a way to build a sense of belonging, not just for yourself, but for others where you live.

We are currently seeking individuals to join our board of directors. The open positions are for Area Directors for Area 1, Area 3 and Area 5.
Area Directors must show evidence of 10 members’ support from their specified areas and have the majority approval of the assembled Board of Directors.
Directors-at-Large are often nominated from the floor at the Annual General Meeting and can also be endorsed by the nominating committee.
Both Area Directors and Directors-at-Large can join the board at any time. Board members serve until the AGM where they will be put forward for election.
