SNA administers Small Grants for community connecting projects and activities. These grants are available for community groups and organizations. Small Grants are available up to $5,000.
This year, priority will be given to first-time applicants and projects that work on community beautification.
Previous projects have included:
- Tree-banding on a street
- a street party
- a community meeting
- improvements to a community space
- cleaning up a back lane
- a public art project
- supports for a basketball team
There will be one intake date this year – March 12. All application must be in on or before the intake date.
Applications will be reviewed by the Small Grants committee in March. A final decision will be made at the March Board meeting.
Applications are approved according to the following criteria. They must:
- Show how the project meets the goal of community building/connecting
- Have identified support from local residents
- Be sponsored by local groups (not individuals)
- Not to be used for capital improvements to private property unless the property has been made available, free of charge, for community use and the improvements relate to proposed community use
- Not to be used for any individual gain, or material benefit
- Must be completed by December 2012
Eligible applicants will be invited to make a very short presentation to the Small Grants Committee at time and location to be announced.
