Emergency Response Project
On January 14, 2012, many families in our community were left homeless when the apartment block at 577 Sherbrook St. burned down. In response to this tragic event, concerned residents and community organizations have come together to help raise money and supplies for the families affected. For more information about this event and how to help, please visit www.sherbrookfirevictims.ca.
In order to be better prepared for future crises, Spence Neighbourhood Association set up an Emergency Response Project for residents displaced due to situations beyond their control.
We are currently accepting gently used small household items to assist displaced residents. If anything else is needed, please see our Community Connector for a list of local resources at 615 Ellice Ave.
To make a monetary donation please, please view the home page and on the right side click DONATE NOW through the CANADA HELPS link and specify where you would like your monetary donation to go to (e.g. Building Belong Program, Environment and Open Spaces, Fire Victims in Spence, etc. ). If left blank, momentary donations will go to program/project most in need.
Another option is to come down and visit our office at 615 Ellice Ave. to make a cash or cheque donation.
Please know that Spence Neighbourhood Association does not have any staff or volunteers going door to door asking for donations. If someone comes to you asking for donations on our behalf, please contact Cam MacLean at 783-5000 or Holly Steele at 783-2758.
